Whatever Wednesday : Nick Jonas & The Twitter Concert

Sometimes girls just need a day out with their mom. Tuesday was our” Girls Day Out” to the Disney Resort. We started with California Adventure and made our way over to Disneyland in the afternoon. My girls enjoy going to Innoventions in Tomorrowland, so our last stop of the day was the top floor. The girls went and played the games and I sat and hung out on Twitter. Then the tweets started in the Disneyland search on my Tweet Deck… Nick Jonas surprise Concert at Disneyland Tonight… Hmm, could be just one of those Twitter rumors. Then they started pouring in, one caught my eye that pointed to an LA Times article. I clicked on the article and sure enough Nick Jonas has been doing surprise concerts. I gathered up the girls and we headed to Main Street to see if they had set up a stage. Hmmmmm, no stage. Could still be a rumor? The next round of Tweets mentioned Disney 365 on the Disney Walk. We decided we would walk over to the girly store Disney 365, if we saw nothing we would leave… if we saw any signs something was up we would stay. Sure enough a stage was set up! There were about 100 girls lined up along the gate that was set up around the store. The girls found a front spot and we waited. The crowd grew and everyone was following Twitter to check out the news. Then @nickjonas released that the concert would begin at 7:30pm. Wow, the girls were going to get to see Nick Jonas up close. SCORE! At 7:35 he emerged from Disney 365 and sang 4 songs. The girls stayed up front and had a perfect view. Then after song four, he thanked the crowd and started walking over to the fence. He was shaking hands and the girls got to see him up close and personal and shake his hand WOW!!!!!! This was one of those moments the girls will talk about until they are old women. They will tell the tale of Twitter (Will anyone remember Twitter by then?) and the night they “TOUCHED” their Tween Crush. It was a good mom night. They thanked me a billion times for finding out about the concert and letting them go. They thanked me for standing there for two hours. They just said Thank You a lot, but I will let you in on a secret…. I thank them for letting me relive that excitement of a youthful crush, for letting me see the look of pure joy as they sang along to his four new songs, and just for being there to be part of who they are. Someday when they are Moms they will know that I had an even better time than they did just by being there, to see them be there.

Whatever Wednesday - The Buffet at The Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas

Crab Legs! Crab legs are my very favorite food. Yes, even more than lobster. I did not believe that I could ever eat my fill of it. The Buffet at the Wynn proved me wrong. The Wynn’s Buffet is the most expensive on the strip, but if you are on a budget it can still be done. Dinner is amazing at the Wynn: all you can eat King Crab Legs (pre-cut) , Shrimp, Sushi, Prime Rib, Sea Bass, Kobe Burgers, Lamb (I don’t like lamb but my husband loved it), crapes, and so so so so much more. Dinner starts at 3:30 at the Wynn, but they serve straight through, so the secret to saving a little cash is arriving at 3:00. At 3:00 you pay lunch prices which are $13.00 less than dinner prices. Nibble on some of the yummy lunch treats and pace yourself until the Dinner food comes out at 3:30. Also a note if you are bringing the little ones Children 2-8 years of age are half price, after 8 years old you pay full price. Check out my Whrrl below to see the price break down. It is a must while in Las Vegas. The décor is beautiful, the wait staff helpful and the food AWESOME. They even made it easy for me to stay Low Carb while enjoying dinner. Yum. My Tuesday Top Ten Temecula Dessert Wines

This list is in no particular order. They are all yummy I couldn’t possibly choose my favorite. Try them all on your next trip to the Temecula Wineries.

Mount Palomar Limited Reserve Port

Made from Zinfandel and Petite Sirah grapes from our estate vineyards, the Port is fermented like a red wine, then fortified with high proof brandy resulting in an exceptional wine with diversity and finesse. Dark in color with classic port aromas of cooked red fruits, figs, caramel and brown sugar. Our Limited Reserve Port is spicy with some oak accent and a smooth, long finish.

Mount Palomar Solera Cream Sherry

Since 1978 Mount Palomar has produced handcrafted sherry wines in our outdoor aging solera. This is a forgotten winemaking method in California that harkens back to an earlier era. Using the classic Palomino variety and patient aging of at least three years under the sun creates rich hazelnut and caramel flavors and a long smooth finish. Many people enjoy this Sherry as a simple aperitif or with shortbread cookies or roasted almonds, but it is also a good match for Baklava and similar desserts.

Ponte Zinfandel Port
Late night relaxation requires a little something extra. Uncork a bottle of our Ponte Zinfandel Port. This delicious Port is the perfect ending to a good meal and pleasant evening.

Ponte NV Sherry

The Ponte Sherry is the perfect aperitif before sitting down to a good meal and a pleasant evening. This luscious wine is excellent served at room temperature or over ice and makes a great match to traditional hors d’oeuvres.

Wilson Creek Decadencia Chocolate Dessert Wine

Indulge yourself with a Premium, Old Vine Dessert wine that will surprise you by its flavor, yet relax you with its smoothness. We took an astonishing 100 year old vine Zinfandel, made it into a dynamic Port, and then added a touch of Essence of Chocolate to make it even more delectable

Wilson Creek Angelica Cream Sherry

Made from 100 year old vines. Angelica is considered the first wine made in California. It was used in ceremonies by the Padres in the California missions. Flavors of caramel and hazelnut.

Wilson Creek Almond Champagne ( I know not “officially” a dessert wine)

This white sparkling wine is naturally fermented, with just a hint of pure almond added so it’s guaranteed to dazzle your guests. A must-have champagne to make any occasion extra special. Great with desserts, cuddling, hot tubs, picnics, fireplaces, brunches, and parties.

South Coast Winery Black Jack Port

This blend reflects opulent ripe berry fruit and nutty aromas, along with a warm silky finish; character that only these styles of wine possess. Cheers! And here’s to Jack! Blended to emulate a late bottled vintage port, the Black Jack Port has rich fruit character and dense extracts that give wonderful mouth feel and flavors. Subtle nuances of chocolate and berry meld with delicate oak aromas to give the sensualand decadent experience that Jack would expect.

Leonesse Cinsaut Dessert Wine, Tucalota Vineyard

Cinsaut Dessert Wine is crafted in a traditional Port style, offering layers of ripe plum, black cherry and blackberry accented by hints of cinnamon and creamy vanilla. Rich and elegant flavors of blackberry and black cherry are influenced by just a touch of dark chocolate. Aged in small French oak barrels for thirty-four months, this wine is soft and decadent throughout the palate with a silky lingering finish

Maurice Carrie Sweet Christa’s

A Late Harvest Chardonnay and boasts an apricot, banana blend with tropical fruit characteristics. It is a superb dessert wine or aperitif.
